竹内浩一《銀の夜》
正面を向く狐は、まるで銀狐であろうか。鋭いまなざしでこちらの世界を睨みつけるように描かれ、顎を引いた緊張感ある姿は、野生の妖艶さと力強さを湛えている。頭頂部から背、そして特に尾にかけて銀泥が用いられ、その独特の輝きは「銀」という題名にふさわしい神秘的な印象を放っている。毛並みは墨で一本一本丁寧に描写され、その精緻な筆致は他を圧倒する。
一方で背景には、蕗の大きな葉と、四方に散らばる竹の落ち葉が配されている。蕗は葉脈や光を受けた照り返しまで細やかに表現され、竹の葉は数え切れないほど描かれながらも、一枚一枚に繊細さが宿る。
狐の妖艶さや緊張感、野性の怖さを前面に据えつつも、背景の蕗と竹の葉がその表情を和らげ、画面全体に調和をもたらしている。本作は、竹内浩一の作品群の中でも際立つ逸品といえるだろう。
Kōichi Takeuchi “The Silver Night”
The fox facing the viewer head-on may well be a silver fox. With its piercing gaze fixed upon our world, it seems to glare with both tension and intensity. Its lowered jaw and taut posture convey a sense of wild allure and latent power. Silver pigment is applied to the crown of the head, the back, and especially the tail, creating a distinctive shimmer that justifies the work’s title, imparting an air of mystery. The fur is rendered stroke by stroke in ink, a technique so meticulous that it leaves no rival in its precision.
In contrast, the background is filled with the broad leaves of butterbur and countless bamboo leaves scattered in all directions. The butterbur is depicted with careful attention to veins and sheen, while each bamboo leaf—though innumerable—retains a delicate individuality.
The fox’s aura of seduction, tension, and wild menace is softened by the surrounding plants, which weave harmony into the scene. This balance results in a composition of remarkable depth, making The Silver Night one of Takeuchi’s most exceptional works.
