奥村 美佳《山桜》
画面一杯にせり出す雑木林の中で、ひときわ存在感を放つのが一本の山桜である。幹や枝は決して整った姿ではなく、むしろ不揃いで野趣を帯びている。しかしその姿こそ、限られた環境の中で懸命に花を咲かせようとする「野の桜」の力強さを象徴している。
画面左奥には曲がりくねった小径が伸び、その先には海岸線らしき風景が淡く広がる。遠景の山々は繊細に霞むように描かれ、対比的に手前の桜を大きく、象徴的に浮かび上がらせる構図となっている。春のやわらかな日差しが画面全体を包み、奥村特有の輪郭線を排した技法が、自然そのものの息づかいを感じさせる日本の原風景を描き出している。
本作は、2014年に三越で開催された「第六回－Nihonga・京－」展に出品された作品であり、奥村芸術を存分に感じさせる一枚である。
Mika Okumura 《Yama zakura ‐Japanese Mountain Cherry‐》
A dense grove of trees thrusts into the composition, where a single mountain cherry stands out with striking presence. Its trunk and branches are far from orderly, bearing a rugged, untamed character. Yet it is precisely in this irregular form that one feels the strength of a wild cherry—striving to bloom to its fullest within the limits of its environment.
From a winding path that recedes toward the left, the viewer’s gaze extends to a faint suggestion of the coastline. The distant mountains are rendered in soft, hazy tones, a contrast that allows the cherry blossoms in the foreground to emerge larger and more symbolic. Gentle spring sunlight suffuses the entire scene, while Okumura’s signature technique of eliminating contour lines evokes the living breath of nature and captures the archetypal landscape of spring in Japan.
This work was exhibited at the “6th Nihonga-Kyo Exhibition” held at Mitsukoshi in 2014, and it fully conveys the spirit of Okumura’s artistry.
