ユウゲショウを思わせる小さな薄紅の花々が、蔓のように伸びた茎の先に一輪ずつ咲き乱れ、画面を優しく彩っています。その可憐な花々に囲まれるようにして、一頭の仔馬が描かれています。
仔馬はすでにたてがみを蓄え、顔立ちには馬らしい確かな存在感が表れています。しかし、その足取りはまだ華奢で、大きな体を支えようと懸命な様子が伝わってきます。花の柔らかな色合いと、成長の途上にある仔馬の姿が響き合い、生命の儚さと愛らしさを同時に感じさせる作品です。そこには、竹内浩一の優れた観察眼と、叙情的な感性が豊かににじみ出ています。

Kōichi Takeuchi’s Ko (The Young) is adorned with delicate pink blossoms—reminiscent of Evening Primrose (Yugesho)—that bloom one by one at the tips of vine-like stems, filling the scene with gentle color. Within this profusion of blossoms, a young foal is quietly depicted.

The foal already bears a developing mane and a face that conveys the unmistakable presence of a horse. Yet its slender legs reveal the fragility of youth, struggling earnestly to support its growing body.

The tender hues of the blossoms, together with the figure of the foal in its formative stage, evoke both the transience and the innocence of life. In this harmony, one can sense Takeuchi’s keen powers of observation and his deeply lyrical sensibility.
