本作は水彩と墨を用いて描かれた作品である。山間に佇む集落の家並や杉木立は中央部で濃く力強く描かれ、周囲に広がるにつれて墨が柔らかくぼかされ、奥行きと余韻を生んでいる。画面手前には鞄を持つ親子と見られる二人が描かれ、その姿は村を離れようとしつつも、どこか振り返っているように見える。
